Postcolonial Feminism

The basis of this view is rooted in the denial of the universality of women's experience. The experience of women living in third world countries (colonies / former colonies) is different from women with first world backgrounds. Third-world women bear the heavier burden of repression because in addition to experiencing gender-based oppression, they also experience oppression between nations, tribes, races and religions.
The dimension of colonialism became the main focus of postcolonial feminism which essentially challenged colonialism, both physical, knowledge, values, perspectives, and community mentality. Beverley Lindsay in her book Comparative Perspectives on Third World Women: The Impact of Race, Sex, and Class states, "dependency relationships based on race, sex, and class are being perpetuated by economic, social and educational institutions."
