A notion that argues "There is no socialism without the liberation
of women. There is no liberation of women without socialism". Socialist
feminism struggles to eliminate ownership systems. Marriage institutions that
legalize male ownership of the husband's property and ownership of wives are
abolished like Marx's idea that cools a classless society without gender
differentiation. Socialist feminism emerged as a criticism of Marxist feminism.
This flow says that patriarchy has arisen before capitalism and still will not
change if capitalism collapses.
Capitalism's criticism must be accompanied by a critique of domination
over women. Socialist feminism uses class and gender analysis to understand
women's oppression. He is in agreement with Marxist feminism that capitalism is
a source of women's oppression. However, this socialist feminist stream also
agrees with radical feminism that considers patriarchy the source of
oppression.
Capitalism and patriarchy are two mutually supporting forces. As
exemplified by Nancy Fraser in the United States the nuclear family is headed
by men and the economy is officially headed by the state because the role of
citizens and workers is a masculine role, while the roles of consumers and
caregivers are feminine roles. The agenda for the struggle to fight it is to
abolish capitalism and the patriarchal system. In the Indonesian context, this
analysis is useful for looking at the problems of poverty that are a burden on
women.
