Habitus is
closely associated with 'capital', this theory implies that the intellectuals
are unconsciously aware that they have been bought by capital (the Ruler), then
become agents of the government. But there are also those who have become
habitus, then consciously become Rent seekers. This is if associated with the
hierarchy of human needs theory proposed by Maslow, then the third level of need
in the form of the need to establish social relations should be at the level of
the first need. Bourdieu's opinion implies that fulfilling basic needs and
individual security can only be achieved by the existence of social relations
between individuals.
Explaining the fear of an academic tarnished by academic
expertise when it comes to politics, Pierre Bourdieu explained that this kind
of thinking is one of the obstacles in research. Furthermore it is explained
that this is a relationship. According to him, the relationship between the
text, the latest intellectual work and the intellectual profession will be
useful if it has become an act / real work / action / development.
That focus is the deposition of our various habits in feeling,
looking, and acting which is called habitus. Habitus is no longer limited to
one's habits, but has become a habit of society that appears in the practice of
everyday life. from corruption to destruction, from the habit of plagiarism to
the habit of wiping out debts by many bank business groups in Indonesia with
the tip in the case of Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI), even adding
holidays without prior permission.
By looking at the results of Bourdieu's thought above, the
intellectual habitus pattern needs to be reflected. Given the importance of the
role of intellectuals in transforming the nation for the better.
