The
Liberal Firqah mission is to confront (precisely: destroy) the fundamentalist
Islamic movement (www.islamlib.com). they wrote: "Of course, if there are
no efforts to prevent the dominance of the militant religious views, it may, in
the long run, the views of militant religious groups can become dominant. If
this happens, it will have a bad effect on efforts to strengthen
democratization in Indonesia. Because militant religious views usually create
tensions between existing religious groups. Call it between Islam and
Christianity. Open religious views that are open (inclusive), and humanistic
are one of the core values that underlie a democratic life. "
Fundamentalist
Islam which is opposed to liberal firqah is a person who has five
characteristics; namely (1) those who are driven by deep hatred towards the
West, (2) those who are determined to restore the past Islamic civilization by
reviving the past (3) those who aim to implement Islamic law (4) those who
propagate that Islam is a religion and the country, (5) they make the past a
guide (guide) for the future.
This was stated by
former President of the United States, Richard Nixon (Muhammad Imarah: 75)
In
the article entitled "The Four Islamic Agenda That Liberates; Lutfi Asy
Syaukani, one of the initiators of JIL who is also a lecturer at Paramadina
Mulya University introduced four agendas of Liberal Islam.
First, the political
agenda. According to him state affairs are purely world affairs, the royal
system and parliamentary (democracy) are the same.
Second, lifting life
between religions. According to him, the search for pluralism theology needs to
be given the more pluralistic social life in Islamic countries.
Third, women's
emancipation and
The fourth freedom of
opinion (absolutely).
While from other
sources we get four of their agendas are (1) the importance of the ijtihad
contextualization (2) commitment to rationality and renewal (3) acceptance of
social pluralism and religious pluralism (4) the separation of religion from
political parties and the existence of non-sectarian positions country (see
